Edit ringtone and notification preferences

Read on to learn how to change the notification/ring sounds on your MultiLine in your settings.

Overview

You can set separate notification sounds for receiving calls and texts on MultiLine when using Data mode. 

Before you start 

  • If you're using Minutes mode, MultiLine will use the notification and ring sounds that are set in your Phone Settings. 

Edit ringtone and notification preferences

You can change the notification/ring sounds on your MultiLine in your settings.

  1. Tap the menu icon ⋮ in the bottom right (iOS) or upper right-hand corner (Android).
  2. Tap Settings then tap Sounds.
    1. To change the ring for Data calls, click Ringtone (for Data calls) and select a ringtone.
      • Select Silent to silence your Ringtone. 
    2. To change the message notification click Message Notification, and select a notification sound.
    3. To change the voicemail notification, click Voicemail Notification and select a notification sound. 
    4. To add a vibration alert for calls and messages, tap to turn on the toggle. Tap again to remove vibration alert.

Set passcode

Read on to see how to set a passcode on your MultiLine mobile app.

Overview

You can set a passcode in Settings under General Settings. This feature enables you to set a passcode for the app, for added security.

After it's been set, you'll be asked to enter the passcode every time you open the app. You can disable it at any time. 

Before you start 

  • Your administrator may turn off this feature. If so, you will not see the option to set a passcode. 

Set the passcode 

  1. Tap the menu icon ⋮ in the bottom right (iOS) or upper right-hand corner (Android).
  2. Go to General Settings and find Passcode
  3. Toggle the switch to 'on'.
  4. Enter your desired passcode.
  5. Choose and answer your security question.

Set E911 address (US Only)

Read on to learn how to set the E911 address, which is required by law in the US to make sure that people are able to get help from emergency services. 

Overview

E911, or enhanced 911, automatically displays the user's phone number and physical location. This feature enables emergency services to locate the user for emergency assistance. Calls in Data mode won't be allowed until the user registers their 911 information.

This feature works in Data Mode or WiFi but is only for residents living in the U.S., Puerto Rico, and the U. S. Virgin Islands. 

Set E911 information

Mobile

  1. Tap the menu icon ⋮ in the bottom right (iOS) or upper right-hand corner (Android).
  2. Tap Settings, then E911 Personal Information
  3. Carefully read E911 Terms & Conditions and tap Accept
  4. Enter the required information in the fields, and tap Save

  5. A confirmation dialogue box will appear, tap Accept to save the changes
  6. The app will display the address you entered or suggest an address. Tap Edit to change details, and tap Save to store the changes.

A pop-up page for E911 will appear any time the user attempts to change the calling method. The user will need to complete the above steps again before they'll be able to complete the call.

 

Block a number

How to block a number from recent calls

iOS
  1. Tap the blue info icon
  2. Tap Block Caller
Android
  1. Tap the down arrow, then tap Call Details
  2. Tap the menu icon
  3. Tap Block Caller Note: You will see Block Contact if the caller is on your Contacts list
  4. On the confirmation screen tap Block

How to block a number from messages

You can block a number from your messages by going to the Messages screen, tapping the info (iOS) or menu (android) icon in the upper right hand corner, and then tapping Block Contact

You can block a contact by going to the Contacts screen, tapping the contact, then tapping the info (iOS) or menu (android) icon in the upper right hand corner, and tapping then Block Contact

Unblocking a number

  • Your blocked call list is available in the Settings > Call Settings. 
  1. Tap Blocked Numbers to view the list
  2. Tap Unblock and checkboxes will appear. Select the checkbox for numbers you want to unblock, then tap Done
  • If the user is in your contacts, recent calls, or messages, you can tap the info (iOS) or menu (android) icon in the upper right hand corner and tap Unblock Contact

Set the default country calling code

Read on to learn how to set the default country calling code. 

Overview

A country calling code, or country dial-in code, is a prefix dialed before the telephone number when placing an international call. For example +39 is the calling code for Italy. By default, the prefix will reflect the country code of your MultiLine number. 

Set the default country code 

Mobile

  1. Open the dialer.
  2. Tap the current country code (example below: +39).
  3. Tap from the list to select the desired country calling code.

Desktop

Desktop does not assume any given country code. You should always include the country code when adding contacts, dialing numbers, or entering numbers to text.
